Decluttering helps organize household chores for HOT days

You never know what kind of weather you're going to have in Vermont. Last weekend we had to turn our heat back on for a couple of days because there was an unseasonable cold snap--with SNOW on Memorial Day weekend!

Today, barely a week later, we are roasting with temperatures in the low 90s.

That's too much of a temperature swing for me, and I've been finding it hard to do much in the house because I'm not acclimated to the heat yet.

But this is where living in a decluttered house comes in.

Because we don't have tons of stuff out all over the place where it doesn't belong, I don't have to worry about getting heatstroke trying to put it away.

Because we don't have to deal with piles of clutter, we can do bare minimum household chores until we get used to the heat, and our house will still look good, and if we have unexpected company, it's not a problem.

Here's my minimum:

1.  Make the bed.

2.  Feed the pets. Walk the dog.

3.  Wash the breakfast dishes.

4.  If the bathroom needs a quick swipe, do that. If the floors need vacuuming, do that.

After that, make a big jug of iced tea and enjoy the day doing other projects while you try to stay as cool as possible.

Of course we couldn't get through the whole summer like this, but for a couple of very toasty days, it works.

How do you manage your daily chores on the first beastly hot days of summer?
